The SIV is really a special type of visa that&rsquos incredibly nearly impossible to find and may take many years to acquire. The visa is reserved for those who have labored for that U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan. It may be incredibly dangerous for Afghan and Iraqi nationals to get results for the U.S. military, only 50 SIVs receive out every year.

Nisar Momand, Director of Afghan Cultural Center in Houston, stated inside a phone interview using the Daily Us dot that whenever his organization got wind from the family&rsquos detention, they arrived at to area nonprofits and headed towards the airport terminal. RAICES tweeted concerning the incident to rally supporters towards the airport terminal, and Texas representatives Al Eco-friendly and Sheila Jackson Lee were attending, too.

It&rsquos a household of seven. The father is 48 &amp was an interpreter for all of us military in Afghanistan.

His wife is 46. Children are 19, 17, 12, 10 and 6.

Following the mother and her children were released from child custody, these were initially headed to some hotel to invest the night time, but Momand offered the household shelter.

&ldquoI realize it&rsquos very difficult to leave your country,&#8221 he stated. &ldquoThey were attempting to bring them to some hotel and that i stated, &lsquoBelieve me your accommodation isn’t a great place on their behalf.&rsquo The kids are extremely happy having fun with our children.&rdquo

Momand told the Daily Us dot the household is apparently headed to Dallas, where there is a sponsor. Motakawil continues to be held and is not put into a detention center by Saturday mid-day, based on RAICES spokesperson William Fitzgerald.

It&rsquos still unclear why the household was arrested. Fitzgerald told the Daily Us dot the father thought that his family had been arrested while he opened up sealed medical records.

CBP, which didn’t react to multiple demands for comment with this story, apparently told RAICES the family had been arrested because Motakawil unsuccessful to exhibit for just one final interview in the U.S. embassy in Kabul, causing his visa to become flagged. But Fitzgerald, the RAICES spokesperson, cast doubt with that statement.

&ldquoThe one factor we all do know is when there’s a flag on visas like this, the individual doesn&rsquot get on the flight, they don&rsquot cope with immigration on the other hand,&rdquo stated Fitzgerald, emphasizing the lengthy, arduous procedure for securing the SIV.

There’s still no details about an immigration hearing for Motawakil.
