‘Legit disturbing’: Campaign ‘lobbying’ Canada to lower the voting age to 8 so kids can vote on climate change

Spread the love

You might remember in March when 125 House Democrats voted for Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s bill that would mandate a national voting age of 16 — it even had a handy #16toVote hashtag. “From gun violence, to immigration reform, to climate change, to the future of work,” young people “have earned inclusion in our democracy,” she tweeted.

Even before that, a Bloomberg columnist argued that the voting age should be lowered to 13 or 14, with voting being the “training wheels” to get people involved in civics.

Well, forget about all that. In Canada, there’s a campaign by “kids” (well, fronted by kids) to lower the national voting age from 18 to 8 before the October election “to make sure climate change is on top of the ballot — and voters’ minds — this federal election in October.” Even the first question on the FAQ page is, “Are you serious?” The answer? They’re serious about climate change, but not so serious about letting 8-year-olds vote. “We’re mobilized, we’re motivated (and full of sugar) and we’re willing to use any tool at our disposal, from picketing to pitching tantrums.”

The #18to8 campaign is asking Canada to lower the voting age to make sure that climate change is on top of the ballot.

I didn't acknowledge this because I assumed it was a mean-spirited parody of how the Climate Cult is already starting to use, terrify and manipulate a 'children's crusade'.

And yet, here it is. Disturbing as all hell. Not funny – this is legit disturbing occult devil shit folks.

This is a parody right😳😳Kids can’t even get to bed on time or to remember to brush their teeth. #TrudeauMustGo

It’s a PR stunt, not a serious proposal. “Okay, we’re not actually lobbying to give eight-year-olds the vote…”https://t.co/lIQKX55Dp8

This is a gross example of exploiting kids for politics.

This video wasn’t made by children. This website wasn’t made by children. This movement wasn’t made by children.

It was made by adults.

Dumb adults who think 8 year olds voting will help them get what they want. https://t.co/IurW4ASeA7

Let's tell kids what to think…then make a video where we ask them what they think! And guess what they'll say? It's shocking! It's surprising! And they are so smart I think we should let these little brainiacs (who are much smarter than the adults who disagree with us) VOTE!

— Brad Feinman (@brad_feinman) September 2, 2019

What did you expect? Unfortunately, we now live in an age in which the sexual and political exploitation of children has become new normal.

Making the voting age to 16 is one thing. Making the voting age to 8 is just… this is a joke right? It's a troll. A prank. They're playing right? 😂

1 of the most irresponsible things i have heard of in my life. So many things wrong with this, don't know where to start. David you are making a complete disgrace of yourself and your organization.

I'm convinced this is a parody and nobody can tell me otherwise.

— Zangash (@Zangash) September 2, 2019

On the website, it does nothing to refute that it's not serious until you click on the "Take Action" tab… its comes off as something that they are serious about, then at the end they say "Just Kidding!!" because they know how insane it sounds pic.twitter.com/eCXOk0PTEw

We like the featured photo on the homepage of the boy in the stroller holding a sign saying, “I’m too young for this s**t.” He gets it.

It’s still exploitation of children, though.

These kids will regurgitate any propaganda they're fed. Innocence should not be confused with wisdom.

— Joshua Meade (@moojester) September 2, 2019

If anything, this video exposes the rampant brainwashing the school system is doing. Instead of giving the basics needed to learn they politicize and weaponize the classroom for a particular ideal.

— Mcdave (@McDave7) September 2, 2019

Why stop at 8? That's unfair to 7 yr olds and under? I mean if a 3 year old can permanently choose a gender not conforming to their biological sex, then they should be able to vote too! New campaign, change the voting age from #18toBorn#SucksToBeCanada

— HUMANe Mind (@HUMANe_Mind) September 2, 2019

Give fetus' the vote NOW!18to18weeks

— CriticalThinker (@SaysHuzzah) September 2, 2019

Lower it to newborn watch how fast the left does away with abortion !

— buddy romero (@buddyromero87) September 2, 2019

Why stop there! We should be extending voting rights to plants and animals as well. After all, this is their planet too. 🤣

— jltee (@jltee2) September 2, 2019

My son is 10 and has never heard of climate change because his parents aren’t neurotically determined to wreck his one chance at experiencing the peace and joy of childhood. Children should worry about books, dinosaurs, Superman, and tree forts. Not carbon emissions.

— Lu 🌙 (@luinalaska) September 2, 2019

Wow – bless you! I agree with you 200% It's easy to set examples of the basics (eg recycling) and instill a love of nature without terrorizing children, confusing them and planting seeds of anxiety they may suffer with for a lifetime.

— Scruten_eyes 🇨🇦 (@scruten_eyes) September 2, 2019

So they’re serious but not serious. They don’t want 8-year-olds to vote — they just want adults to vote like 8-year-olds.
